Nailed It

Dessert construction can be a precarious undertaking. Building a beautiful, scalene fruit Napoleon is only half the battle - delivering the goods to your watering mouth is the real challenge. If only there were an elegant, utile solution to this age-old conundrum.

Enter artist Stéphane Bureaux, who fashioned hardware-worthy nails out of delectable dark chocolate.

Bureaux has a history of experimenting with transforming food forms, but his chocolate nails are his first project we're dying to put into use. Imagine serving your brunch guests fluffy buttermilk pancakes studded with bananas, which, instead of sliding onto the plate, are anchored with a chocolate confection. We also imagine popping the nails into your mouth on their own as a sweet snack provide a uniquely dissonant delight.

As far as we can tell, the nails are not yet available to the commercial market. Until they are, we'll be working on a caramelized adhesive to tide us over.
