Redefining Bathtime

With blizzard warnings aswirl, I find few things more luxurious than a bubble bath, a glass (or three) of wine and some cranberry scented candles. There's nothing quite like being safe, naked, warm and tipsy. What a delicious feeling.

Well imagine my surprise when I discovered these paintings by Beacon, New York-based artist Lee Price. Seems this hostess needs to be a little more... adventurous... with her bathtime.

Lemon Meringue.

Don't you feel guilty just looking at this?

Don't try this at home.

Total cakeout.

While the colors, the women, and the treats are quite beautiful, her decision to render them so hyperrealistically lends them an eerie and uncomfortable air, as if we are catching these women at their most vulnerable and embarrassed moments. The consistent birds-eye perspective feels extra voyeuristic.

Touche, Ms. Price. One-upmanship has always felt weird but never looked so good.
