Today kicks off a four part series I am doing with BACARDÍ to share some of my favorite party tricks that are guaranteed to make your next party memorable and keep your guests talking for years to come. Including BACARDÍ in your holiday festivities is a great way to bring summer vibes to the colder months in the fall and winter.
Everybody loves a good theme, but even more important is a signature cocktail. For every party I always serve a delicious signature cocktail that has major wow factor that inspires guests to take photos and share with their friends.
The first trick to iconic cocktails? Glassware - or in this case, lack of glassware.
Today I'm sharing with you the recipe for the perfect Pineapple Colada recipe, best served in a fresh pineapple. This recipe comes from Daniele Dalla Pola who runs the ship at Nu Lounge Bar in Bologna, one of the best tiki bars on the planet.
The Untamable Daniele Dalla Pola |
I've been fortunate enough to have his Pineapple Colada a few times now, the first at the BACARDÍ Triangle and a second time at the BACARDÍ Legacy Finals in Sydney Australia. He calls it the Sexy Colada, and it is awesomely easy to make! I asked him for the recipe for a party I was having this summer, and luckily for all of you he generously shared it with me!
The Way To A Woman's Heart: Rummy Pineapples |
Like any great tiki drink, the Sexy Colada is all about the garnishes - pineapple leaves, fresh orchids, cocktail umbrellas, and tiki straws are a must! Daniele has also garnished this drink with dried fruit - pineapple slices, dried raspberries, anything to add color and tropical flair to the drink.
As the months get colder and colder, my drinks always get rummier and rummier. I don't know about you, but I'm liking the idea of a Hawaiian Christmas this year, Pineapples included!
Sexy Colada
Created by Daniele Dalla Pola of Nu Bar Lounge
2-2/3 oz BACARDÍ Gold
1/4 oz Ginger Syrup
1 oz Coconut Cream
1-1/3 oz Coconut Water
2 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice
1/2 Lime - Juiced
Shake with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a carved out Pineapple filled with ice. Top with a few dashes of Angostura Bitters, a dash of fresh nutmeg, and a pinch of Salt.
Garnish with a cocktail umbrella, a few pineapple leaves, a fresh orchid, and a festive straw.
Millions of thanks to Daniele for sharing this incredible recipe with me. If you make the Sexy Colada at home feel free to tag me and BACARDÍ in photos on social media, I would love to see what you create!
